FRASASSI CAVES - (Ancona)
The “Grotte di Frasassi” are the biggest and the most known caves in Italy.
They were discovered in 1971, but they were open only in 1974.
Till now just 13 km have been explored, but it is reckoned that the caves may be 35 km long. Only 1,5 km of this crystalline land is open.
The “Grotta Grande del Vento” is the biggest in Europe and it is so big that the Dome of Miland would fit in it.
In addition to this there are the “Abisso Ancona”, the “Sala dei Duecento”, the “Grand Canyon”, the “Sala delle Candeline”, the “Sala Bianca”, the “Sala dell’Orsa” and the “Sala dell’Infinito”.
The guided tour lasts for about an hour.
Remember to dress up warmly, as the temperature inside the caves is at 14°C!
FERMO AND ITS CASTLE - (Fermo)
The sightseeing tour among the castles in Fermo’s district begins from Porto San Giorgio, that used to be the ancient harbor of Fermo, nowadays an important seaside resort, through the hills for about 40 km up to Montelparo.
Fermo was a Roman colony and its name was “Firmum Picenum”; it has a pyramidal plan dominated by the Roman-Gothic dome.
For centuries all the towns in the surrounding area were subjected to Fermo’s jurisdiction and its authority extended also to the seaside centers, down to San Benedetto del Tronto; Fermo was one of the major reference points of the Adriatic sea.
The medieval castles on hilltops are of ancient origins.
The tour through the old towns of Magliano di Tenna, Grottazzolina, Montottone, Belmonte Piceno…up to Montelparo will let the visitors see an harmonious and attractive landscape, that has been shaped throughout the centuries of hard work.
URBINO - (Pesaro-Urbino)
In the second half of the 15th century Urbino was the venue of one of the most important courts of Europe. Here Federico da Montefeltro gathered the most important painters, writers and erudites of the time.
Urbino is one of the most important cities of the Marche.
Who arrives from Arezzo, can have a first amazing panoramic view of this town. Soon after you can see the twin towers of Palazzo Ducale.
Palazzo Ducale is really huge and all was built according to the needs of the people that had to live there.
The most particular room of the palace is the “Studiolo” (studio) of the duke.
It was completely decorated with inlaid panels based on the Trompe d’oil technique; some of them were made according to the designs of Botticelli.
Anyway, in order to get an outline of both the palace and its organizational structure, you should visit its rooms, stores, kitchens, laundries, stables, places to keep the food, underpasses and cellars.

LORETO - (Loreto)
The beautiful city of Loreto, not far from the Adriatic coast, is one of the world’s most important shrines.
The town mainly exists thanks to the thousands of pilgrims that come here from all over the world.
Despite of the translation of the “Santa Casa” (Holy House) happened in 1294, Loreto was officially recognized by the Church as the city of pilgrims only in 1507.
According to the legend the “Casa Santa” was carried away from Angels in 1291, when the city was subjugated by the Saracens. It first arrived in Dalmatia and stayed there till the 10th of December, then it was miraculously moved to a laurel grove (Latin “lauretum”, hence “Loreto”).
The construction of the Dome begun in 1468 and Pope Julius II decided to build other palaces around the Dome.
They had originally be built according to the gothic style under the supervision of both the architects Bramante and Sansovino, but then dominated the Late Renaissance style.
The statue of the Black Madonna of Loreto, which is in the “Santa Casa” is just a copy of the original which was destroyed in a fire in 1921.
CONERO PARK - (Conero)
Monte Conero takes his name from an old product, the Komaròs, arbutus berry or cherry tree, a typical shrub of the Mediterranean scrub.
The Parco regionale del Conero, founded in 1987, is a green oasis, a protected area where there are 18 paths, a wonderful place where you can see the migration of birds (peregrine and night raptors) or where you can visit the “Torre di Guardia” (tower) and the Roman church of S. Maria.
There are a lot of farms and companies that produce wine and here you can buy Rosso Piceno (wine) and the best products such as honey, olive oil, legumes…..

ANCONA - (Ancona)
Ancona is a council of 100.412 inhabitants.
Chief town of province and area, Ancona is placed immediately to North of the promontory of the Conero Mountain.
Hurled the sea, the town direction disposes of a very ancient disposed harbour on a natural inlet ( or "elbow", which the word would come from " Ancona" ).
The town typically lives of services, it has few resident and many commuters coming from the surrounding countries.
To signal, besides the harbour, the presence of the regional hospital, of the university and the polytechnic.
The wealth of services, together with the abundance green urban and you dimension however limited they make a highly spendable town.
